Emergency Response Team
Originally established to respond to hostage and barricaded suspect situations, the Emergency Response Team has seen its responsibilities increase over the years to include the execution of high-risk search warrants, the apprehension of individuals classified as “armed” or “potentially armed”, and the personal protection for individuals designated as “victims of a threat” or “potential threat”. This team is trained to respond to any special assignment approved by the Chief of Police.
This past year, the Emergency Response Team participated in the execution of 25 high-risk search warrants, provided protection for a threatened family (requested by a Federal Agency) and apprehended numerous armed suspects without incident.
The Emergency Response
Team conducts twice-monthly training in the tactical components of raid
planning, deployment and operations. Members are required to undergo weapons
qualifications on a monthly basis and are assessed quarterly for their physical
abilities pertinent to the performance of their duties.
