Police Aide Program

The Police Aide Program is a pioneering “pilot” program developed by the City of Atlantic City in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Personnel.  Designed to enhance opportunities for minorities and women to enter the Police force, recruits are teamed with sworn Police Officers in an “on-the-job-training environment, thereby being exposed to the various aspects of police work and the procedures of the City’s Police Department.  Upon successful graduation of the Program, Police Aides are given priority in entering the Police Academy.

Since the inception of this program, 6 of the original 18 Police Aides have become sworn Police Officers.
