The Technical Agency Coordinator (“TAC”) is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City’s computerized criminal data systems. These include the Criminal Justice Information System (which ensures coordination and compliance with the policies and procedures of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New Jersey State Police) and the Automated Criminal System and Automated Traffic system.
In March of 2000, the FBI and the State Police conducted an audit of the Department’s computerized systems and found them to be “in compliance” with all required Federal and State procedures.
At present, the TAC is updating the City’s data systems. The new system (NCIC 2000) is being developed in conjunction with the State Police and is on the cutting edge of crime data technology.
