Uniformed Patrol Sections
Rapid response to 9-1-1 calls, calls for service, and high visibility neighborhood patrols are the primary duties of the Uniformed Patrol Sections. Patrol is often referred to as the "backbone" of the police department, handling more than 150,000 calls for emergency and routine police service each year. Uniformed Patrol is a function of the Field Operations Bureau and is organized by time into three shifts covering day, evening, and nights. Patrol officers are seen in a number of copacities by members of the public each and every day whether they are assigned to marked patrol vehicles, on foot or on bicycle patrol. They are the first responders to calls for citizen assistance and many quality of life concerns. The dedication, commitment , and professionalism of these men and women in the protection of our citizens and the 34 million annual visitors to our city is paramount.
