Support services include the Supply Section, Records Section, Training, Personnel and Information & Technology.

Support Services is responsible for providing critical support within the police department for all police functions.

SUPPORT SERVICES

Support Services consists of units such as the Records Section, Property & Evidence, Police Personnel, Supply and Training. Each Section is responsible for various support functions within the police department.

The Records Section is responsible for the intake, maintenance and distribution of all of the police department records, processing, data entry, and tracking the NJ Uniform Crime Reporting statistical data. The Records Section is where people can obtain police reports and related paperwork. This is also the department responsible for administering OPRA requests. Records can be obtained in person Monday thru Friday between 7:30am and 3:30pm. There is a fee for all reports and proper identification is required. For more information call (609) 347-5555

The Special Employment Section serves as a liaison to outside employers who wish to employ police officers for extra duties such as traffic control at construction sites and road improvement projects. Officers are also hired to provide a public safety presence at numerous special public events, concerts, and conventions. Special Employment can be reached by calling (609) 347-5474

The Training Section schedules the training and updates for all sworn police personnel according to federal, state, and municipal training mandates. This section ensures that bi-annual certifications are maintained and ensures the safety and proficiency of police officers in the qulity of service offered our community. In addition, the Training Section coordinates agency training for new recruits, maintains instructor certifications, and implements new training programs as required by the Office of Chief of Police.

The Police Personnel Section maintains the personnel and medical files for both sworn and civilian department members. It also has the duty of keeping summaries of occupational injuries and illnesses for the department. In addition, the Personnel Section conducts background investigations of prospective police candidates during Police hiring cycles and civilian applicants as requested from the City of Atlantic City Human Resource Office.
