Police Honor GuardThe Atlantic City Police Honor Guard was formed in the sixties by Captain Pete Mucci. It was used for funerals and parades. The next commander of the Honor Guard was Captain Gerald Tibbitts who formed the new Honor Guard in the Eighties. Captain Tibbitts formed a unit that had regular members assigned to it. When Captain Tibbitts resigned from the Honor Guard in the Nineties, Sergeant Frank Callio assumed Command of the Unit. Sergeant Callio was one of the original members of the honor Guard under Captain Tibbitts and also served on Honor Guards under Captain Mucci. The Honor Guard has grown from funerals and parades to a Community Relations unit doing many things to enhance the image of the Police Department with the Public. The Honor Guard has been invited to do the National Anthem for a number of events including the Miss America Pageant. The Honor Guard currently has three Sergeants and twelve Officers as members.
