Alcohol Beverage Control
Atlantic City is only one of several shore communities in New Jersey who are
joining the campaign in keeping alcohol out of the hands of our youth. Cops in
Shops is a program where local police officers work undercover in participating
retail establishments posing as employers to apprehend adults who purchase
alcohol for underaged drinkers. According to statistics more than 7,750
underaged people and adults have been arrested in New Jersey as a result of the
Cops in Shops program. Underaged drinkers a minimum fine of $500, and loss of
driver's license for six month, and arrest. You can obtain an ABC Handbook
written in English and Spanish.
Intelligence Operations & Homeland Security
The mission of the Office of Homeland Security is to protect the citizens and
critical infrastructure of the State of New Jersey "to the greatest extent
possible from acts of terrorism, natural disasters, and other catastrophic
events and emergencies" The Atlantic City Police Department along with the NJ
Department of Homeland Security encourages all residents and businesses to be
vigilant, take notice of surroundings, and report suspicious activities or
suspicious items immediately to police.
